| - Being new to Vegas, and having such an awesome app that'll find me rooms for under $20/night, I was happy to have had a place to stay for the evening. I had arrived a little after midnight, and unfortunately, there was a line to check-in. I'd waited about 30mins. to check-in, and thankfully I had made reservations because the process only took less than 5 mins and the front desk agent was very pleasant.
After scoping the room (which was nothing to brag about; I was just happy to have a CLEAN bed to sleep on), I decided to head to the lobby to see what's happenin'.
It WAS after midnight, so I wasn't expecting much...I was just scouting for a few brews, then I'd be on my way back to that comfy bed that awaits on floor 8.
Walking from the "lobby" area toward the casino, you kinda feel like you're in a maze. I had to stop and ask a janitor which way to go before I got lost..! He politely told me I was headed in the right direction, and I eventually found(and smelled....)my way towards the casino area.
I recall walking past a bar or two that had obnoxious occupants(which, after a long day, was something I was trying to avoid), so I kept walking. Eventually I landed at the "main casino bar". The bartender had spotted me from 20ft away, greeted me with a welcoming smile, and I made my way towards that bar.
I ordered a simple gin&tonic...and had simple conversation with the bartender. Turns out, he'd been there for over 20 years and could give me the scoop about the place. I'd asked him a few questions, to which he'd knowledgeably responded -- keeping me entertained whilst drinking $2 beverages. Yes. $2. For an 8 oz. Gin&tonic.
Suffice it to say, I remained at the bar for longer than planned....HOWEVER, my all around experience was decent enough to provoke me to return to that bar in particular.
I returned to my room, which admittedly leaves a blank after such an experience at the bar...but I do recall having an undisturbed night's sleep.
Checking out was a bit of a hassle, as there'd been another huge line waiting to check in.....THANKFULLY they had they key drop-off boxes to the right of the reservation desk on the way out.
I just dropped my keys in that box, and left work-related as well as worry-free. I'll be returning one of these days....if not for the drinks, it'll be for the decent sleep. :-)
