  • I lived at the Lofts at Rio Salado for almost 3 years, or maybe I actually lived there for 3 years. I can't remember. At any rate, I lived in both the Single Loft and then moved up to the biggest apartment, the 3-bedroom, a year later. I just moved out a month ago, so thought I would provide an honest review of my experience living there. When I orginially moved in, there was a great management company overseeing the property and I had a very smooth move from Chicago to Phoenix. I had to be moved in within 3 days and they made it happen. I really like the office staff and was excited about my new home in Arizona. A few months later, Alliance Residential Company took over the management of the property. The property is owned by JP Morgan Chase, but Alliance Residential Company actually manages it - just for those who might be confused. I agree that there has been a great deal of staff turnover in the front office. I can see where this can lead to frustration when people are working with one staff member only to have to explain everything else to someone new or just not feel a sense of community because of the high turnover rate. The inaugural staff, Kelly, Leonard, etc., were amazing and became like family to our little family. They threw great community parties, they were flexible and very kind. Our family loved them! Sadly, the original group left and all new people came in. This did feel a little unsettling since we were so accustomed to just contacting people we knew at the front office if we had a questions, issues or needed information. However, I've never lived in an apartment complex that didn't have high turnover. I think it might be just the way it is in apartment management. That being said, overall, our experience was extremely positive and if I were to live in an apartment complex in Tempe again, I would definitely consider moving back to the Lofts of Rio Salado. I think that says a lot about how much I enjoyed my 3 year stay there. So, withouth further ado, the quick pros/cons list (to get this review moving): Pros: - Location, location, location. You can't get any better than this without paying over 2K a month for an apartment. The train is RIGHT outside your door and the airport is 2 miles away. - Operations Crew. I've never seen such a responsive maintenance/operations crew at any apartment complex. If you followed the directions and submitted your order online, they would have you fixed up within 24 hours - sooner if it was an emergency like your AC going out. - Office Staff - I, personally, didn't have an issue with the office staff. I really appreciated almost everyone who worked there. Well, maybe not D'Mond (sp?), he was ridiculously rude for no reason but, that being said, I'm pretty much a pain in the arse and high maintenance sometimes and I felt that the office staff did everything they could to accommodate my requests, answer my questions, respond to issues or work with me as needed. I'm sure they were very excited to see me leave! Again, for the most part they were extremely friendly and accommodating. -Apartment. Love the layouts and the price can't be beat! I noticed people complaining about price fluctuating monthly on their bill, but that's because you pay for water, trash, tax, etc and those prices fluctuate monthly. Cons: - Location, location, location. You're next to an airport. So, if you're shocked that you hear airplanes all night due to being next to the airport, then I would suggest NOT living next to the airport. I ended up getting used to it and never heard them after awhile. - College students. - This complex is near ASU, so duh, you have to deal with college students. If you are a working professional who needs complete silence at night in order to get up for work the next morning, I would not recommend living here. Both me and my husband are working professionals, with a child, and we had to deal with drunk college kids all night, pot smoke seeping into our apartment all the time and of course the cigarette smoke from our neighbor that made it difficult to sleep. Also, the puke in the elevator, trash thrown around just overall disregard for the property by these college students is pretty rampant. Again, it's near ASU, so expect an apartment filled with college-aged students. When I was single I didn't mind the noise, pot, music, until I got married and had a kid, so again, expectations. - The rude foreigners, not the nice ones. This sounds so wrong, but I'm talking about the young men who seem to have taken over this apartment complex. They drive very expensive cars, gather in the parking lots late at night to scream, yell and race their cars around. They smoke in the elevator and basically act like the complex is their trash can. I don't know where they're from exactly, but one of the "race cars" said Kuwait on it, so maybe that's their hometown, not sure. Summary, if you have the correct expectations, then you'll be happy here!
