  • CONSIDER BUYING ELSEWHERE This has to have been the single worst buying experience I've ever had to deal with, and I'm a General Contractor who designs and installs a lot of custom cabinetry. You should consider buying products from a local manufacturer who will take care of you if there is a problem. I purchased a new vanity from RH for a multitude of reasons, but primarily because of timing, and the local manufacturers being swamped with K-12 school work over the summer. I expected RH to have a quality product, made with quality materials, and be delivered in a prompt, professional fashion. What I got was considerably different. The cabinet was delivered considerably later than promised, forcing me to keep staff on site until they finally arrived. We immediately noticed they were missing key parts, and addressed this with them. They indicated that it would be a week or two before I got the mounting hardware. As I was examining the new vanity to come up with an alternate method of attaching it to the wall, my hand was cut open by a large split in the structural wood components (the top rail of the French cleat). This cabinet was not built to AWI standards, and would not be able to support its own weight once mounted. I notified RH of the situation, and they immediately started searching for a replacement vanity. They found one in Baltimore, and had it shipped. It arrived 2 weeks later, and when the delivery persons unwrapped it, it was apparent that this one was of equally poor quality. The drawer guides were binding up and would not allow the drawer to close all of the way and the quality of the hardware was cheap plastic. We tried to swap out the drawers, but the hardware was considerably different, and not compatible. I opted to keep the first broken cabinet, as I could at least have this one repaired. I have given RH several chances to live up to their promise to "make this right", but they have completely failed. This project is now over a month late, and I'm being forced to foot the bill. There are local woodworkers who would have taken better care of me, and would have been able to get me a custom vanity in the months that I have been dealing with RH.
