| - The Bayview Village Shopping Centre is found just off the Bayview subway station next to this apartment building that looks like a sailing ship (someone told me it was called "The Ark" and when you see it, you'll understand why).
Anyway, the first store you see is Loblaws. For those visiting Canada, Loblaws is Canada's grocery chain. The ground floor has a dry cleaner, a cigarette store, a chocolate store, and a florist. You take the escalator upstairs and you'll find just about any type of food and personal care items that you need.
You then exit Loblaws and are now in the mall. It's not a HUGE mall and you can walk it in about 30 minutes if you're fast or 2 hours if you're with the gray haired "mall walker" crew.
Lots of little old ladies dressed to the nines, not many children running around, and a surprising lack of teenagers bumming about. It didn't take long to figure out why though. The stores are very high end, not much for teenagers to spend money on, and way too pricey for families with young children.
The only place where I saw a lot of people was the food court area located towards the middle of the mall. There were a couple of really fancy restaurants that were absolutely packed with men in suits and women in heels. Seems indicative of a lack of surrounding restaurants to take your clients to. "Hey, let's meet at the mall." Meh.
Bayview has a wine store, home goods, clothing, furniture, but I think the wine store was the most impressive. The selection was enormous and there were so many people working that were helpful but not pushy.
Bayview is a great place to kill an hour or two or to knock out some shopping. The Loblaws is not to be missed as it is one of their flagship stores. Again, it's just a short walk from the Bayview subway station; easy to find and fun to visit.
