| - I recently had my car declared as a total loss, and as a result I got a small amount of money for a cash settlement. I went looking for cars online to see if any were within my budget or slightly above it, and I came across Camelback Kia. They were selling a 2012 Toyota Yaris hatchback and was listed for $6,995 online. At first, I fell in love because my car that got totaled was also a Yaris.
When I had finally talked to someone about purchasing the car in cash, he had to run numbers. And he came back and told me it would be $13,000. This was completely absurd and ridiculous and he kept spewing about how the price listed on the car was the Internet asking price. This made absolutely no sense, and he kept trying to push me to finance the car when I'm a college student just trying to get a car ASAP to go to school and work. We ended up negotiating back and forth and settled at $8,000.
When I finally had my check from the insurance company, I called to inform them that I was on my way. While I was driving I received a call from the sales manager I was dealing with but I did not listen to the voicemail until I got there. And he informed me that THE CAR WAS SOLD TO SOMEONE ELSE. Like what kind of company does this? What kind of company goes on their word to sell a car quicker, when you know you have a customer lined to buy it? They had blamed the Hyundai department for selling the car, but I doubt this was true. If you were going to trying to snake thousands of dollars out of me before for this same car, how can I be assured that you didn't sell this car to someone else because they were offering to pay more money?
The thing that made me the most pissed off was the guy didn't even apologize. He just said let's look at some other cars. But they literally only left me with one option, which was ridiculously overpriced for the mileage and year of the car. I also distinctly remember that they were also trying to show me a Honda Civic while they were showing me this other car because it was in my price range. But when I asked about it, it was suddenly $3,000 more?
This establishment is a joke. They still call me today to ask if I'm still on the market for another car. Never trust your money with a company like this, that has no disregard for their customers. I will never come here to look for a car, again.
