Easily my favourite espresso in The Market, if not the country. I'm afraid Cuba has my heart when it comes to the best espresso in the world.
I've noticed the service is a bit lacking lately, which is why I'm adjusting my 5-star review to a 4-star one. On one of my visits I was a bit pressed for time (I drink espresso for God's sake! Definitely not a sipper of coffee, but sure for tea and hot chocolate :).
If you want the story: me and the guy behind me ordered the exact same thing to go, and the server didn't bother to get it right, by allowing him to get his order first. I would have been fine with a different kind of mistake, but that really rubbed me the wrong way (if I had made the same mistake while working at McDonald's I'd be long-ago-crucified; you guys are pretty lucky I'm around ;). It was compounded by the other guy just not-so-sneakily taking the order and charging out before I had decided to pipe up (this is my error, but I didn't want to make a scene). The barista insisted on re-making my espresso (further eroding my time) and I was too polite to correct them. What I really wanted was the barista to figure out who ordered what first and get it right, not just letting this wild first world injustice manifest! I guess you can sprinkle on a little race/privilege dynamics and this situation was a perfect storm of coffee-coloured poo tsunami.
All-in-all their product is good even though getting at it can sometimes be a bit frustrating to get to it, but the things we put up with as caffeine addicts, right?
