| - After being exposed to the world of açai bowls in Hawaii, I came back to Toronto in search of one. To my surprise, Toronto hasn't hit the acai bowl train yet, but luckily OJ'S is one of the few places that sells açai bowls in the city.
What a huge letdown!! Their bowls sell for $8.50 plus tax and it is certainly not worth the price (although I suspect I may be paying a premium here for its rarity). I ordered the original 2.0 acai bowl and it comes in such a tiny bowl! The acai only fills the bottom third of the bowl and while the flavour is definitely there, the texture definitely is not. Instead of being a thick, glorious almost sorbet-like mixture, the acai was a very thin puréed smoothie. Not what I had expected. However, I do have to give credit to the fruits topping the bowl. Mine came with strawberries, bananas, and blueberries which are classic acai bowl toppings, and you can tell they use really fresh fruits.
Overall, I'll probably only come here if i really can't beat my acai bowl craving. The quality and size isn't worth the price for me based on what I've had in Hawaii. Looks like i'm still on the hunt for Toronto's best acai bowl.
