| - Kicking myself for only now visiting the festival in 2016, and that on the last night!
First the venue: a warm early autumn evening dining al fresco next to a beautiful orthodox churn surrounded by lush Mediterranean-green grounds, Greek music from a live band playing in the distance. Food was excellent from what I sampled -- homemade, fresh, served with joy -- and I can say the grape leaves (fresh leaves, tender bits of minced lamb, just the right pinch of mint...) the best I've ever had.
And what a bargain, most food was $8-10 per plate with the exception of grilled lamb chops which was $18. Greek beer costs $5 and a bottle of wine about $16-20. I forget what Ouzo shots cost... Short lines really at all the tents, despite being packed.
In the true festival tradition, this was a great mix of folks from all walks of life. Even bumped into Congresswoman Dina Titus who is a member of the Greek Orthodox community and was about to give an interview for local tv.
According to National Geographic, this is the best food festival in the State of Nevada, and after my first experience I sure agree.
