Cool bar with lots of games, a few TVs at the main bar, solid beer selection, large outdoor patio. I usually end up playing pool and darts; occasionally bags outside in the summer. No food served here, but there are plenty of surrounding places to eat. Bartenders have always been attentive and quick.
I try to avoid this place Friday and Saturday as the crowd is overwhelming and frequently overserved. The weekend crowd makes the pig feel more like a college frat house. I have seen some oddly humorous front-door procedures on the weekend, including a sign-in sheet and roped line outside. They even had a dress code one night - yes, a NoDa dive bar with a dress code!
NoDa is definitely in a transitional state as more development continues to encroach the once eclectic vibe of the neighborhood. Unfortunately, I see NoDa moving toward more of a bar district than an art district.
