  • During my almost 2 year stay here, these are the things that we experienced: Our apartment was not ready when we came in on our scheduled move in day because the maintenance team got the WRONG apartment ready!!! So our unit wasn't even touched. The last tenant moved out and we basically just moved right in! They then asked us if we could move in another day... Oh yeah, let me just tell my moving trucks to turn around and just park on the side of the road until tomorrow... Really... So we had to move in all of our furniture as the carpet company was cleaning our carpets, so we were basically moving in on wet floors! However, the office did reduce our first months rent because of the inconvenience, which was very nice. However, when we went to give them our notice that we were leaving, they instructed us that all tenants are responsible for having their carpets professionally cleaned before they move out and said that it was a flat rate of $86 for every unit. When I called the company they quoted me over $100 explaining that because we have stairs and a second story, that ours was more expensive. $140.00 later... only a few months into our lease, our unit got broken into by some high drug addicts trying to find change for more drugs... which leads me into my next issue: the neighborhood is not the best. My roommate and I are both from the Scottsdale/PV/North Phoenix area and so when we moved in here, we really didn't even know what Sunnyslope was... We would see homeless people digging through the dumpsters on a regular basis. In addition, I can not even tell you how many times I saw drug deals go down, and for two young 21 year old girls, we definitely didn't feel safe. About a month after getting broken into, we got bed bugs. It was the most disgusting thing I have ever experienced in my entire life. We had to basically pack up everything we just unpacked when we moved in, to have the pest company bomb our entire apartment. The process took over 2 weeks and it was very inconvenient. The office was very helpful with the situation and the bugs never came back. However, I have read other reviews saying that multiple tenants also had this same issue... My brand new 2014 car also got scratched multiple times by a stray cat that would lay on top of my car. When I talked to the office about what they could do for me, they said nothing because the cat was a stray and did not have an owner to contact. This was really disappointing, and I still have scratches all over the hood and top of my car from this damn cat! My final bad thing about this place is the PARKING!!!! OMG!!! The parking situation is really one of the worst I have ever seen. You have better luck parking at a meter in downtown Phoenix on a Saturday night then parking here at 5:30 on a Monday evening. My roommate and I both work nights as servers and would basically get home at 11 pm every night, and trying to find a spot would literally give me anxiety. We have had friends come over and have to leave right away because they had no place to park! There were even times when the two of us would just have to go to our parents house and spend the night there!! It is VERY UNACCEPTABLE that someone has to fear that they can not park at their own home! This complex needs to seriously talk to either the management company or the city of Phoenix about expanding their parking! In addition, the "gates" at either entrance were always open. I never even needed a gate code to get in because they were never closed to begin with... Now, even though there are definitely things that they need to improve on, there are some things about this complex that I will miss and that I did like: The views of North Mountain are unbeatable. My unit was backed up against the mountain and every morning when I walked out my front door I had the most breathtaking view and scenery. When we moved in, our original rent was only $920.00 a month for a 2 story 1,200 sq ft. town home. The complex is not your standard cookie cutter complex that looks like every other place out there, it was unique in architecture. The office staff was also very friendly to us and maintenance always came as soon as I made a request, they either came the same day or the very next. All in all, I really did like living here. I liked being so close to the central and Camelback corridors and downtown, even though the immediate surrounding area was ghetto. I really do miss the view from my unit and the large square footage we had, but, would I live here again, no... sadly, the parking is just way too unacceptable and basically the reason we did decide to leave. I am only writing this review to let people know that the complex itself is actually quite nice but not being able to park at your own house, is just a deal breaker for me! Oh, and bed bugs, nothing beats bed bugs...
