About a month ago, my water heater broke. I went to Lowe's to buy a new one. The first guy I talked to told me it was no problem and they could get that installed for me that very night. He called over Crystal to help me. Crystal walked as slowly as possible towards me looking bored out of her mind. I could tell she did not want to help me at all and even gave my bf a look of "oh no". I started to explain to her I needed a 40 gallon tank replaced and she immediately cut me off and told me that 40 gallons was not up to code for my size of property. I told her that's what I currently have, but if I have to go up to 50 that's fine, i just needed it fixed immediately. She told me should couldn't get someone out to inspect it until the next few days and then it would be days after that if they could actually approve the install. i said never mind, went to Home Depot, had great service and it was installed the next morning!
I wrote Lowes about this incident, and they sent me a generic response back (even calling me Joe when my name is Amanda) apologizing and saying a manager would contact me within 24 hours. I missed a call from a manager over 3 days later. He did not leave a message and the only reason I knew it was Lowe's was I googled the number. i waited a couple more days for the manager to reach out, but he never did. I wrote Lowes again telling them about their consistently terrible customer service and after that i received a call a couple days later from a manager at that Lowes. He sounded like he didn't really care, and he said he would send me 10% off my next purchase. i never received that coupon, but I could care less. I will never go to Lowes again. It was obvious to me that no one cared there, and I hope people reading this will be encouraged to go to Home Depot. They gave me excellent customer service and made my water heater incident much less stressful!
