I love izakayas! I love that there's so many in the valley. I've been here a few times and have had pretty good experiences. We came in and ordered a bunch of skewers, chawan mushi, a shrimp appetizer, corn on a stick and an ikura bowl.
The skewers always come out amazing, I personally like the ones that are seasoned with salt (you can choose when you write it down on the paper). My favorite so far is the pork cheek. The texture is just amazing, it's like a melt in your mouth goodness but still has a slightly chewy texture to it. Unfortunately they forgot to make a handful of the skewers that we ordered but they fixed it right away.
The corn was on their specials menu - it's like grilled corn on the cob brushed with a slightly sweet teriyaki like sauce. My wife was a huge fan, I personally don't care for corn on the cob (mainly because I'm too lazy to eat it and it gets stuck in my teeth) but I'm glad she enjoyed it.
The chawan mushi was typical, the small fried shrimps appetizer is something we always order. They fry them in butter until crispy - the shells turn out so crispy that you could just eat it whole with no problem. Ikura bowl was nothing special (except that it IS one of the best things in the world in its own natural state) but the portion was generous.
By the way, the free appetizer with Yelp check in is actually only good for an ice cream dessert. Or at least this was what I was told the last two visits. You may want to ask about it first should you choose to use it.
