| - When was the last time you walked through a department store that had been built and designed for the consumer of present-day? Department stores (in my mind) are stuffy and outdated, and no fun to be in -- just try to drag me into the Bay. It ain't happening.
Sears is dead and no one cares. Onwards and upwards! Here comes Nordstrom. That means nothing to me, I had no prior experience with their brand. Curious, I decide to go in and take a peek, and it feels like I'm on vacation in some American city. Think Holt Renfrew and Macy's had a baby.
Everything is high-end and expensive. Layout is friendly and encouraging to purchasing. No endless searching for the escalator here (sorry, Bay, you really do suck). Staff were prim and proper and friendly and helpful. Displays were attractive and enticing. Little details, like the Bose speakers being in the men's underwear section, made me smile. Washrooms were clean but couldn't understand why there were no female washrooms on the children's clothing floor, only men's.
Only disappointment was the "cafe" on the main floor, E Bar, but that will be a separate Yelp review.
