| - We love NCA and can't imagine sending our son anywhere else. I was very concerned about finding a child care option that provided good nutrition and varied, interesting meals. That was the first thing that attracted me to NCA - the garden and the fact that Ms Nadia makes meal like beef and eggplant and saffron rice and lentil soup and other real food for humans - not "kids' foods". When we went in for a tour of the facility, I was happy to hear they were completely amenable to cloth diapers.
Then my son started going there when he was 6 months old, and I knew we had made the right choice. He was a very fussy, clingy baby - I was terrified that any child care provider we took him to was just going to dread his crying, clinging arrival every day. Instead, I was astounded at how far the staff at NCA went to comfort him and make him feel safe and loved. And even more surprising and uplifting was how many staff members (including teachers who weren't even in the infant room!) told me they loved how snuggly my baby was. He was very bonded to the infant room teachers and would reach out for the morning teacher when I got there to drop him off in the mornings.
He's now in the big toddlers room (Sprouts), and thriving. He surprises me all the time with new words he has learned, new songs and stories he recognizes. The kids do craft projects with repurposed materials (there was a pretty cool cardboard box robot built by one of the older classes) and have a music teacher come to each class weekly. And most importantly, his teachers are still so warm and loving. We came for the nutrition and sustainability, but we stayed for the warm, loving atmosphere.
