Beyond abysmal. I have tried to resolve claims for THREE years with no luck. My daughter tore her ACL, had surgery, was in recovery for 6 months, etc. and they refused to pay for her emergency MRI because authorization wasn't sent the same day (it was the weekend and their office was closed!) Phone wait time for an hour is common. Agents give you the run around. In emergency situations they are the worst. As if it's not bad enough that teachers already get the short stick regarding benefits, pay, and retirement compared to firefighters and police...we also have the worst insurance.
