| - As others have mentioned, I would give them zero if I could. What's funny is that even by trying to cheat the review system by having multiple 5 star reviews from the same IP address, per Yelp themselves, they still have a crappy rating. They were Anytime Garage Doors before changing their name to Sun City to try and run from bad reviews.
It all started when one of the cables jumped off of the spool, and in my effort to get it closed I ended up having a couple of the rollers come out of their track. No biggie, I have had to deal with that before. However, the tech who at this point is about 20 feet from the door states that I for sure need at least 2 new panels, that visually had nothing wrong with them. Yet he insisted that they had to be replaced or it would screw up how the entire system worked. And then said that there could be additional parts that need replacing but he won't know util he gets into the job. Now I don't claim to be knowledgeable about garage door systems, but being that I am pretty handy and have worked in the construction biz for 20+ years, it sounded like a complete scam to me. Which was confirmed when I told him my main concern was just getting the door closed properly so I could secure my belongings, he told me it'd be 299. I stood there for a minute trying to process what I had just heard, surely he didn't mean $3, because that is so cheap, but no way he meant $300, right? Wrong. After laughing at the absurdity of his quote, I called him out on and told him I didn't appreciate being gouged. He then said, "well I can knock off $100", which I also laughed at, and just drove home the fact of how much of a rip off the first number he threw out was. After telling him to kick rocks I had a friend swing by and we had it down and on track in less than 5 minutes.
I then call another company to have them come out and fix the cable that had jumped spool and the other that I cut to release tension so the door would close. So the tech shows up and I go over all the BS the last guy was claiming needed to be fixed/replaced and immediately looked at the sticker on my unit and started laughing. Well guess what, the guy who shows up just happened to be an ex employee of Anytime/Sun City and had all sorts of fun info about how they run things. Semi innocent things like going into open garages and slapping their stickers over rival companies, to adjusting costs based on zip code or how the customers were living or claiming repairs/parts are needed that weren't. One story was of a guy who charged some old lady $10k for a repair that should have been a tenth of that. Well her son caught wind of what she was charged and was apparently he is a powerful person and low and behold she got a complete refund. This place needs to be shut down for good.
Oh, and I almost forgot. The only thing needed was the 2 new cables as I had told the guy from Sun City to begin with. No new panels or anything else for matter. It is actually opening and closing smoother than it has in quite a while. What a joke those scammers are.
