It is really important that you observe all freeway signs to the resort. Most direct exits to the Talking Stick are closed as the resort expands in amoeba like fashion on both sides of the 101 Loop.
I went at 8pm on a Friday night and the place was packed. The poker room was wall to wall people playing their hearts out. There is a nice selection of slots there although the typical Vegas-style sound of dinging out jackpot winners was strangely absent. The Blackjack tables were relatively well stocked with players, although the minimums were at $10 (maybe because it was Friday night?)
I finally settled in at one of their bars and began playing some video poker. The bartender came up and I ordered a vodka tonic, fully expecting it to be comped, as I was feeding their machine my hard-earned cash! Nope, it was $6.75. Not really Vegas style there.
As is typical, the casino was very smoky so if you are sensitive to smoke, stay away.
This place is okay if you have nothing better to do in the Valley of the Sun but nothing to go out of your way for.
