  • I am not convinced I've never reviewed True Food before. I'm convinced my review must have been lost in some update or something. Oh, where to start? So, the bigger chains usually turn me off and this is a Fox Restaurant Concept although they've stepped up their game and have some pretty decent places these days. This is definitely one of them. It is a bit pricey if you're like me and want one of everything, even though you know a simple meal will suffice especially when it's nutrient dense like the ones at True Food. Dr. Andrew Weil helped design the menu here with health and taste in mind. Some of the items are very simple making them delicious, like the turkey sandwich, with grapes (if my memory serves me correctly) and a half and half side of Tuscan kale salad and sweet potato hash. All very simple yet packed full of flavour and well, you just feel healthy afterwards. The bison burger will keep any meat eater pleased and is a bit more complex, with an umami sauce and a medley of roasted mushrooms and caramelized onions. Even for those such as myself who aren't huge proponents of meat, I have no guilt in indulging in one of these burgers. The crudités blew my mind the first time I ordered it and the hummus is a personal favorite of mine, I make the same recipe at home and have never had one that tastes better. Okay, maybe once but it was out of state, therefore, out of mind. These days, I typically order whatever seasonal salad they may have and am always impressed at random goji berries or boysenberries that maybe paired with whatever seasonal vegetables at the time of my visit. Though their dessert selection is rather minimal, I still love the matcha ice cream. Not to mention the beverages, both alcoholic and non. I personally like the spontaneous happiness drink if I am in the mood to drink and I do spontaneously feel happiness at those times. I also really enjoy their elixir, maybe they have more than one and I'm sure they're equally deserving of a mention but I've only had one. I've tried a rice noodle mushroom dish that was divine as well. The kiddo loved the crispness of the veggies in the kids teriyaki bowl which was surprising because she is rather picky and I believe it came with black rice. I personally don't think one can go wrong at this place. I wasn't stoked on the tuna started we had last time but think it was just the sauce for me. The only other complaint I have is that there isn't one out by me in Gilbert yet, especially with all of the new development in the area. Fingers crossed.
