  • I went here last year for my inspection. I had to drop my car off for a full day..no waiting area. Didn't pass due to struts that were worn even though he said "they would definitely last you another year but that's the way it goes!" So I asked how much it would be for repair and he said "I don't know but it'll take awhile, I gotta get the parts, price them all out then let you know but we are looking at a couple weeks out." He convinced me the job was easy enough for my husband..turns out it was. He also insisted there was something wrong with the license plate light that we needed to fix as well. My husband checked the light and nothing was wrong, replaced the struts and I had to take it back (again for a full day) for them to call me and say there was still an issue with the license plate light. I sent my husband this time and they argued over it so much that Tim the owner actually went and looked on another car of the same make and model, proving us to be right. So finally I got my stickers and was on my way. Overall the guy was honest and prices decent but the wait time is a little ridiculous and they couldn't even give me an idea when it would be done. Being the daughter of a mechanic (who lives in IL to my misfortune), I thought maybe this isn't so bad..after all these are all 5 star reviews. But I don't think I can claim that anymore as I just had my car towed to Lou's after close of business his weekend and they looked at it, diagnosed, and called me with an estimate by 8:30 am (alternator issue). I told them add on my inspection and emissions instead of me taking it to Walters in a week. They did and called me with the results by 9:30, telling me my rotors and brakes would need replacing, gave me a quote. I gave them the go ahead for everything and they called me at 12:30 Monday morning to let me know it was finished. So at Walters I get emissions, inspection, and reinspection of repairs and it takes two full days of them having my car and not seeming to eager to fix anything. At Lou's I get a bad alternator diagnosis, inspection and emissions, alternator & battery replacement, brakes & rotors replaced and I picked my car up before half the day is even over! How does that work? You guys can go to Walters but I'm going to Lou's!
