| - If I could give Kona ten stars I would. I called Kona because the waterfall feature on our pool was not working correctly (more of a trickle than a waterfall).
I called and spoke to Donna (an angel on earth) and she arranged to have someone come out on a day that was convenient for our schedule (imagine that!). She assured me that there would be no charge for a diagnosis. Brad (yet another angel) came out and diagnosed the problem, made a simple change, and greatly improved the water flow in two minutes - at no charge! He then told me exactly why the waterfall was not working correctly and how it could be fixed to work the way it was intended to work. Why am I so amazed? Because four pool experts have looked at the water feature over the past two years and all of them told me it was the best it was ever going to be.
I mentioned to Brad that Kona's website indicated that they do hardscaping. He confirmed that was true and then spent the next two hours with my husband and me determining what our dream yard would look like. He never once tried to sell us anything. He then gave us an estimate on the spot (at no charge) on what it would take to make our dreams come true (flagstone walkways and outdoor lighting, along with the improvements to the waterfall). We signed the contract that day. (We had already asked others that had looked at the water feature to give us quotes. Two did, one promised to email it to me and I never heard from him again. Brad was a little high on one of the elements, but lower on the others. Bottom line - it was a very competitive bid, but Brad instilled so much trust and confidence in us, that we would have picked Kona even if they had not been the lowest.)
I want to emphasize again - Brad never tried to sell us anything. Like all things that are done quickly, we later wanted to make a couple of significant changes to the plans. No problem. The change orders were made and everything came together perfectly. In the middle of the project, Lenny, the owner of the company and the nicest man on earth, checked in with us to make sure that we were happy and to answer our questions. Both Brad and Lenny waited for me to come home from work on the last day of the project so that they could show me how to operate the lighting and water feature. It felt like the big reveal in a home improvement show. They were very (rightfully) proud of the job and were happy to show it to me. I was also delighted to find out that everything that had been installed was very easy to operate.
Brad kept telling us that we were going to love the results. I kept thinking, "Don't oversell me - I don't want to be disappointed." Well, I was wrong he undersold it -- we absolutely love the results and they are better than we ever could have imagined.
I did not receive any discounts or extras for this review. Brad and Lenny don't even know that I am writing it. Like many, I only write reviews when I am really unhappy, or when I am over the moon. We are still over the moon with our beautiful backyard. Oh - and the waterfall? - no more trickle, we have Niagara Falls in our backyard.
