We visited Jaspers last night wanting to enjoy some patio dining and craving a little creole food - what a perfect fit - lets go to Jaspers! Unfortunately, I am stuck giving it just 3 stars....After reading the reviews I was excited to check out their patio. It truly does border the parking lot and although they have nice curtains & shutters, the parking lot still stands out like a sore thumb. Bummer.
I had the red beans and rice and the crab dip w/ tortilla chips as my entree. I was disappointed with the red beans and rice. It was a nice portion and not overly cooked, but lacked creole seasoning and was just plain tasting. The crab dip, however, was also nicely portioned and had a lot of rich crab taste and not overly mayonnaise-y tasting as many crab dips can be. The Monkey had the blackened prime rib, which in my few bites of it I thought was tasty. However, the $22 price tag seemed a little spendy for the small portion that was served. The sangria was tasty and for $5 a glass was the most reasonable drink on the menu.
I think as others have mentioned Jaspers probably rates better as a good Happy Hour hangout. I do want to try more of their appetizers and will go back for the sangria. But I will probably keep it at that. Sign up for their email newsletter and get a $10 coupon for dinner or $5 for small plates. I wish I could give you more, Jaspers, but just not this time....
