| - In October of 2015 I purchased a Brazilian Pepper tree from Moon Valley, and I am so happy with the purchase (financed 12 months same as cash) that I returned to Moon Valley for my current project.
Pros: 1) I was able to finance a project to transform my grassy front yard into a desert landscape. 2) Brandyn at the nursery was gracious and helpful in sharing his ideas for plant choices, and really took some extra time to help us choose the right Chinese Elm for our front yard. Brandyn shared tips to care for our tree as well. 3) Jimmy crafted a hardscape plan of rocks, pathway, seating area and irrigation that fit our budget. He even allowed for us to recycle some edging to save money. I appreciate his professionalism, and heading back to our house at 8pm on a Friday night to fix a leak we found in the irrigation. Jimmy also explained how to use the irrigation timer, and shared a watering plan that will carry us through the year.
The overall "curb appeal" is vastly improved, but there are a few Cons to share.
Cons: 1) Two of four lantana died before the project was complete. While Moon Valley is scheduled to replace them next week, I'm sad to say that of the 4 scrubby looking lantana plants, there isn't one bloom. It's disappointing because I saw 3-gallon sized lantana at Home Depot yesterday, covered in blooms, for 1/3 of the price that I paid Moon Valley for the planted 1-gallon sized lantana. 2) No foreman was present on the two days the hardscape work was completed. While I appreciate that they were trying to keep my project on schedule, I think the leak would have been noticed the first day, and fixed, if there had been a foreman present. Still waiting for the water bill on that one. 3) The workmen missed some details. No land wells around the plants, which Brandyn said should be there. I fixed that myself the next day. While adding land wells, I noticed some thin places in the rock where weed fabric is showing through, The workmen left with a few bobcat sized scoops of rock, I didn't think anything of it at the time, but now I wish they had used all of that rock on my yard.
I'll post an update with photos when the project is completed with replaced plants.
