My dad and uncles used to work for Sears way back in the day when Sears actually was worth something. Now, I wouldn't use their repair service (or their affiliated A&E repair service) if they paid me to do it. Their technicians all tell different stories. There is NEVER a single visit fix. (To repair an icemaker, they came out to my house about 8 times and it still doesn't work.) The latest fiasco was with a washing machine whose internal hose had been gnawed by a mouse. The first technician sold me a protection plan and said the next time I had a problem like this, it would be covered. Well, it isn't. To add insult to injury, the rude technician who came out today told me that Sears would NEVER work on a machine that had been infested by mice (even though two other technicians did and Sears itself said that wasn't the case). So three technicians, 3 different stories. I'm cancelling the protection plan and will find local repair people who have absolutely no affiliation with Sears whatsoever! Never, ever again.
