Review #100! Woot!
Did my homework before I hit town so I knew this was my place.
McMullen's has an extensive selection of whisky and Scotch. For example, they stock three different ages of Redbreast, a highly regarded pure pot still whisky. A glass of the smooth as silk15 year old type will set you back $16. A glass of the venerable 21 year old stuff is $41. On my first visit, I enjoyed the fifteen year old variety. Sooooo smooth. So delicious.
As I settled my tab Monday night, the bartender explained that they feature a different whisky every month for a discounted price. Armed with this information, I returned last night to try this month's special, the highly regarded John Powers Gold Label. Absolutely delightful.
Happy Hour here is a chance to try their aps at half price. Monday I tried their crisps with curry sauce. Damn! Those crisps are good. Last night I tried the Irish nachos. They're also delicious, but I liked the plain crisps better. IMO, they don't really need cheese and sour cream and onions. The crisps are already perfect without all the toppings.
There's a regular bar and a video poker bar. I played a couple hours on the machine so my John Powers Gold Label was comped. I went home extra happy.
