| - La cave is a restaurant located in the Wynn that serves interesting tapas.
We started with crab rolls in lettuce, which I thought were tasty but under seasoned. Overall a forgettable dish.
Next came the Wagyu slider on zucchini, which was juicy and delicious. I wholeheartedly recommend this dish.
Next came the carbonara with sunny side up egg and fried prosciutto. the prosciutto was delicious; crispy and salty, but the rest of the dish fell short. The pasta was delightfully chewy, and the egg was well cooked, but the dish felt under seasoned overall. This is the second time I felt that the seasoning was off.
Next came the scallop and polenta. The scallop was incredible--cooked and seasoned to perfection, but the polenta was flaky and again under seasoned. It was cooked well, however.
Next came the Thai snapper ceviche with lotus root. The root was crispy and light, and the fish Ceviche was an excellent pair. I felt the overall flavour was safe, not exciting.
The beef filet was well cooked, but again the flavours were on the safe side. The blue cheese was a good compliment, and the truffle cream was on the sour side. Well cooked, average seasoning
We rounded off the meal with a charcuterie plate of sopressata, prosciutto, and aged Gouda. This was the best dish of the meal. Lavash, aged Gouda, and the jam, combined with the cured meats created an incredible flavour medley unlike anything I've ever had.
The last dish alone bumped this review from 3-4, along with amazing attentive service and an enjoyable, laid back environment. For the cost, I feel the food was held back in one way or another, which kept La Cave from scoring 5 stars with me. However, if you're a fan of tapas and fancy wine and cheese, be sure to stop by La Cave
