Crazy Mocha is a chain; started in Pittsburgh more than 10 years ago by a guy who never drinks coffee. This branch in Shadyside was the original one. The design of their cups reminds me a little bit with Philz coffee, but they don't have mint mojito.. Facility here is spacious, high ceiling, plenty of seats and it's conducive to studying. The lights are dim but in a way that can be a little depressing. Lots of outlets and good WIFI. So this branch is good for finishing work on laptop or studying. Outside seats are available for loud chatting if weather allows.
I came to this branch more than 5 times either alone or with friends mainly because of their relatively late hours. The coffee is just OK. I tried their blend, cappuccino, tea, mocha, and Americano.. Nothing was memorable. The baristas were almost always wearing a dry face. For these reasons, the 3 stars were given. Suggestions for improvement: adding a dark roast coffee to the menu and giving a smile once in a while. Otherwise it's a great venue.
