Good bike shop. I biked by before their opening hours & this burly guy (owner?) had already opened the store & was running out to lock his bike. He took a look at my bike & said he could repair it by the end of the day.
I showed up 15 minutes before closing and it was a charming madhouse. One customer before me waiting for her repaired bike, three customers dropping in with questions, and Mr. Burly barking at a young sweet staffer (that part was less charming) while grabbing various bikes & repairing them in minutes in an incredibly crowded back tool room.
The charming part? Three kids with tricked out bikes were eyeing bike parts on the wall and asking about prices, and clearly felt at home. A regular customer dropped by and Mr. Burly came out to talk with him and diagnose his bikes' latest mild malfunction as if they were sitting at a bar talking about their wives. The spirit of Mr. Burly infused the place: informal, brusque yet warm, deeply independent. The shop was still going strong when I left, a half-hour after closing time.
