What the heck? What happened to low prices? I am grateful to be able to afford new clothing when I choose, but I enjoy thrift shopping and many of the prices I saw here today were the opposite of bargain. I used to be a Value Village junkie and now it seems ridiculous as many of the shoes, boots and coats were the same price as something would be on sale in the mall. $30-35 for worn boots or shoes? I couldn't believe how many were even tagged at $20. And same with the coats. I don't think so. How is it that they think low income Calgarians can afford to pay some of these prices? It just seems wrong to me. One low income client of mine comes to mind and I know she'd leave and shop at a dollar store.
I do remain impressed at how organized they manage to keep the place and the housewares section still has a lot of good stuff. However, these are no longer the things that attract me to Value Village and I cannot enjoy what is supposed to be thrift shopping when I feel so many items are overpriced. What population are they catering to?
