This is a discriminatory establishment. My boyfriend and I came last night. At the door we were immediately turned away because my boyfriend was wearing joggers. We were told no athletic wear was allowed. Okay, understandable. We go to the car to change pants. My boyfriend ended having to wear his work pants but whatever that's fine. We come back no more than 5 minutes later and while in line we notice these white boys in front of us wearing jogger sweat pants. The doorman lets them in NO PROBLEM, smooth as can be. When I asked the doorman "I thought no athletic wear was allowed" the doorman response that he got the approval from his boss that he can let them in. I asked if he can get approval for my bf he said that he just left. I asked to speak with a manager, the manager said that he did not give the approval and that the doorman should not have allowed them in. I asked if my boyfriend can wear his joggers since he was uncomfortable wearing his work pants. The managers response "oh well he's already wearing those so .." basically sweeping it under the rug. If you have rules in place, they should be applied to EVERYONE. This is a bigger issue than just sweat pants. I witness what determines is ok and justifiable is based on the color of your skin. A black man will be turned away so fast meanwhile a white person can do the EXACT SAME THING and it will be overlooked or some sort of excuse is made, making it fine. This is the sad reality of every day life. We still have a long way to go. We have to do better. SMH.
