| - Pros: Cheap membership, cheap tanning membership, the gym is empty outside M-W 5-7pm (and after March when the new years people quit going), decent variety of equipment for the membership price (although there's quite a few machines I miss from previous gyms I've gone to before moving to cornelius).
Cons: super small stretching area, free weights are cramped if more than 5 people are lifting, the front desk people can be snippy, the tanning bed is ALWAYS in use or broken. ALWAYS. There is rarely a time (ANY time of the day, even when its super empty) that I've been able to walk in and use one of the tanning beds (I tried to cancel that membership since I wasn't getting the service I paid for, but they won't. After talking to several staff/managers/corporate, they refunded a whole month of tanning for my troubles. Boy, thanks). Parking is almost impossible at busy times, AND THE HOURS ARE TERRIBLE.
10am-5pm on Sunday? Seriously?
Also, the people that work out here are very amateury, I've seen people wearing cargo shorts, loafers, flip flops, you name it. They have HORRIBLE gym etiquette which results in an irritating workout.
I have also been bothered with chatty personal trainers during a workout, like they literally interrupt me in the middle of a set to "say hi" for 15 minutes, and had a trainer and client following me around the gym copying my routine one day. It was a great routine with lots of custom exercises she certainly wouldn't have been able to come up with on her own, but she could have followed at a greater distance. It was flattering and irritating, like I should have gotten paid for all the great workouts she copied.
Aside from being cheap, the limited hours, often rude front desk staff, and failed attempt at a tanning membership are making me look for a new gym.
