My wife and I along with her cousin and his wife headed out to Fleming's on Sunday night since Sunday is the only night that they serve prime rib. $36.99 get's you a generous cut portion of prime rib, a starter salad, a side, and a dessert. A smoking deal considering how things can add up here if you order Ala-cart.
The dinning experience was spread out over about a two hour period starting with some bread and wine. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the wine selections (there is an extensive wine list) and tentative to our needs. The Riesling that my wife selected (per the waiters recommendation) was perfect for her taste.
The tomato basil spread along with the wiped butter for the bread was very delightful and a great way to start off the meal. We all ordered the prime rib and a different side so we could each sample the different side dishes.
I started with the wedge salad with blue cheese dressing. The lettuce was fresh and crisp and the blue cheese dressing was creamy. I really enjoyed it. A little while later they brought out our prime rim meals with our side dishes, the prime rib is cut about 1-1/4" thick. The prime rib came with three side sauces. One was aju, another was creamy horse radish, and the last was a ground mustard sauce. The three sauces were ok but I like straight horse radish with my prime rib, so I requested some and the brought it out.
For the sides I got the mac & cheese, my wife got the Fleming mash potatoes, her cousin ordered the grilled asparagus, and his wife got the onion rings. WARNING!!!!! The side dishes are HUGE..... The onion rings were stacked about 12 inches tall, the mac & cheese was a large bowl, the Fleming potatoes could have been a meal on there own and there was enough asparagus to share. Every thing tasted great.
The dessert's were great, chocolate lava cake, creme Brulee, and carrot cake. All tasted fantastic.
So by now I am sure you are wondering why only 4 stars. Well there was a couple small pieces of bone that I bit into on my first bite of the prime rib and I had to spit them out. My wife also had the same thing in hers. Also as a Prime rib the eye (the center of the prime rib) was though and a little chewy. Not what I expect with a prime cut of meat.
