I have stayed at various Residence Inns and this is one of my favorites - don't let the drab location and exterior fool you. I was here for some business and personal reasons. There seem to be a lot of medical patients/relatives and staff here as well. There is even a sleep research center on the top floor.
The rooms are definitely clean, a big plus considering there is a good-sized kitchen to keep up, and the beds are shockingly comfortable; I have had better sleeps here than in some high-end hotels. The furniture is a bit blah and just serviceable ;some of the sitting area pieces should really be replaced by now. Bathroom is a little small. but clean.
The best part of the whole vibe is the staff. I have never seen such a fantastic staff ... not merely a few helpful people, but EVERYONE is so above-average, efficient and polite it really is amazing. I can see why there are a lot of repeat customers, and I will definitely be one of them.
The breakfast is more than adequate, and I appreciate the touches like newspapers on the weekend so I can lazily do crosswords in bed while giving my eyes a break from my various screens. If you want to work out, ask for passes to the LifeTime Fitness a short walk away. It is like a resort!
I am docking 1 star for the pet policy. I get that people want to travel with pets. But this is a huge hotel and I would prefer some kind of pet area away from the non-pet guests. I had to do some work during 1 days and the barking was overly distracting. I think Cujo was in the room next to me! So if you want a peaceful room ask for a suite with bedrooms (no refrigerator whirr), away from the elevators, and not near/above/below people traveling with pets.
Overall I will be back again .... with the above requests.
