Had an unfortunate experience yesterday as I went to a Massage Heights in Calgary as a treat to myself. Really wasn't impressed with the overall of the appointment. Right off the bat I was feeling guilty for not being already in their client base as part of their program. I had circled in the questionnaire what was stopping me from coming more often and time and convenience were the two issues. Right away the woman at the front seemed to be almost argumentative with me that I can indeed can make time to come in after all as it was so close and the hours were open late. She had said we can discuss my options after the massage but I did insist that I did not need to discuss it as I didn't want to. The massage was not a good experience- from the temperature to the noises to the products used. She had asked me right away if the bed was too hot but it wasn't even on so it was very cold. I had also upgraded to the hot stone massage but for the first half of the appointment the stones were not even warm-they were ice cold! The spots I had asked to focus mostly on were not looked after and left me feeling like I just got a light body rub from the masseuse. I by no means enjoy too much pressure but there were a lot of moments that I wasn't sure what she was doing...as it barely felt like touching. Lots of moments there were ten seconds at a time where I wasn't getting massaged and I wasn't sure what she was doing. Then it ended awkwardly when the door was opened before my massage was completed, leaving the last ten minutes of the massage with the doored slightly opened. Then when it came time for paying I was asked again if I would like to sign up for the program. Felt very uncomfortable with the whole experience, which is unfortunate for the price and time you take to treat yourself.
