  • I've wanted to ombré my hair for a very long time and was always very wary because it can look pretty bad if done incorrectly. I have to say, I was extremely happy with the job Nene did!!!! I was actually also worried that the colour would look different after about a month (visited on Dec 15) and, yes, after the first few washes it did lighten up like she said it would, but it lightened to the colour I wanted and stopped. It's been about a month and everything looks just the way I hoped :) I came across Seefu after extensive yelping and research and made an appointment with a level 2 stylist the day before my visit. I was warmly greeted when I got there and I was able to put my jacket away (they had a locker for my purse too). It did take about 15 minutes to hash everything out with my stylist Nene and I had brought a lot of pictures (which I highly recommend any time you do a colour). It was nice because she gave me some advice on whether to go with warm or cool tones but didn't force her opinion on me like some other hairdressers I've had. Overall, I spent just under 4 hours at the salon. I wanted a very subtle ombré with some subtle highlights to add some dimension so I wasn't surprised it took that long. Nene spent a lot of time blending everything and making sure every highlight was in the best place. When I had my shampoo, it was just wonderful! They cover your face with a paper thing so you don't get splashed and I think I actually fell asleep because the bed was so comfy (and I had been there for 3 hours already). Someone also came around and gave me a very firm shoulder massage while I was waiting in my chair in between steps of the process. The massage was fantastic and every so often, someone would see if I needed more tea or water. The only thing I must say I was not happy about was that I was charged for a blowout at the end ($40). Yes, she did blow dry my hair and get in there with a curling iron to give it some waves, but I typically receive this for free at the end of all my hair appointments. It was also a weeknight and I had no plans but to go home after so I would have just asked to have my hair dried real quick with a dryer if I knew it would be that much money. I did get over the top service the entire time though and I understand her wanting to finish the job right so the blowout isn't a huge deal. The salon was also in Yorkville and she actually spent a very long time on my hair for what I paid overall so I kind of wasn't surprised. Overall, I would definitely return for any of my hair needs! You'll probably end up spending more money than you would most places but they really pay attention to you and nothing is rushed. Props to Nene for sticking it through all 4 hours and being so patient!
