  • Some basics: First off, the lower floor, where the showers, locker rooms, and Jacuzzis are located, is an all-nude area. No biggie; everyone is of the same sex, everyone is minding their own business, and it's not awkward until you make it awkward. Don't make it awkward. Towels, shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel are provided. There are also cotton swabs and hair gel in the public bathroom area. I highly recommend asking for slippers at the front desk or bringing your own, because the floors in the sauna rooms are HOT. Also make sure to stay hydrated. You're gonna be sweating after all. As for my experience: This is the first Korean spa I have been to, but I have been to spas in Germany, so I do know what a good wellness experience looks like. I am a little confused that there are a lot of reviews about the friendly customer service and the helpful staff. Maybe they were on break when I walked in, because neither of the two ladies at the front desk were smiling or even talking to me. They silently took my phone to redeem my groupon deal and laid my spa outfit and locker key on the table for me and my friend. They then proceeded to look at us as if to say, "What are you still doing here? Be your way." It was only when I told them it was our first time here and whether there was anything specific rules or guidelines we should be looking out for, that one of the ladies finally gave us a very brief summary along the lines of, "Women on this side, men on this side, you can meet upstairs." Welp, alright then. Thanks. And yes, I have considered the fact that this behavior might have been because of a language barrier. And no, it is not. I have experienced perfect customer service abroad and in the US where people spoke a different language from their customers. I don't expect perfect English. Just friendly service. That said, the spa rooms upstairs aren't bad. My favorite is the clay ball room. You basically just lie down in a bed of marbles and immerse yourself in a pleasant heat for around ten minutes. If you have lain down on a sun-warmed rock before, you know how enjoyable that is. The ice room wasn't as cold as I expected, but it's a nice place to hang out at after sweating in one of the other rooms. There is also a food area. The platters are a bit on the expensive side, as to be expected at a spa. Overall, the Imperial Health Spa is a good deal with the Groupon (it's $24 for a two-person day pass), but it's not really anything to write home about. The service brought the experience down by quite a bit for me. Since I have not had any massages or treatments, I cannot speak for those.
