For Dr. Hartzfeld, this place should have 10 stars. I had been with this facility for 8yrs. A few years ago they sent a lab to a non-PPO provider without my consent. They reimbursed me for the overage as my fee should have only been the in-network rate. However, they just did it again and this time they aren't giving me any answer! They told me they got a lot of complaints because they used Platinum Pathology which changed its covered health insurance plans without them knowing and thus mine went from being in-network to out-of-network. Their policy says they MUST inform me if they are going to send to an out of network lab or I would have had them send it to the one the labs always go to. It is their responsibility to send it to an in-network lab as my doctor is PPO and in-network. That being said, my out of pocket for this error was over $600! My HRA that I pay into for emergencies paid it but now my kitty is over half gone for the year. I should have only had to cover the in-network rate for that lab fee. I cancelled my 7/23 appointment due to this. Now I have to switch to my primary doctor for everything and have all my records sent. Such a shame! I am so upset with the billing management at Desert Jewel. This has been in going since March 2015 for an error they admitted to. They just lost a long time patient.
