I know it's been said already -- but I will echo: this is the type of place downtown Phoenix sorely needs. As a frequent visitor to the area, I've noticed that there is a definite lack of urban, food-centric downtown restaurants with an eye towards innovation. That's what the Blue Hound gives you. The ability to choose small plates or full size entrees is also a nice touch, giving guests the ability to do their own tasting menu of sorts. And with lots of interesting dishes, small plates is the way to go.
Went this past weekend and can tell you, the food was wonderful (bacon jam!) and the atmosphere was great. It's a double edged sword - you don't want to have to wait for a table but it does make it feel more city like when there is a wait. Staff was attentive and Luis the manager did a nice job of going table to table to make sure every guests got a visit.
I'm hoping this place stays for awhile and continues to come up with creative ways to bring a more urban food scene downtown!
