  • I had this place bookmarked for awhile since the hype started and wanted to try it out since I have seen many friends post pictures from this place. The pictures on the internet definitely did capture my interest. It's a very small unit on the side of the food court, not too hard to find and the menu it just written on a chalkboard hung on the wall. There's 2 categories of waffles to choose from, regular or speciality, ranging from $3.5 - $4.5, then you can also add soft serve on it for a few bucks more. I went on a Tuesday afternoon where there was no line up and only 2 customers in front of me. I ordered the black and white sesame HK waffle with matcha soft serve. Taxes are included in the price on the board already. After we ordered, we were told that we need to wait 15 - 20 mins; which I thought in my mind why does it take SO LONG to make a waffle? Especially when there is no line? I wasn't in a rush so we walked around the mall. As we got our waffles, it looked BURNT!! All the HK style waffles I've ever had, mostly in HK was always a yellow, golden color but this was dark and look over done! Well, so first impression of it didn't go so well, maybe the taste of it will make it up. No doubt the waffles were crunchy, and good thing they didn't taste burnt. They just sprinkled some black and white sesame seeds inside the waffle as they were making it. I've had way better hk style waffles, these were hitting the minimum. HK waffles are suppose to have a strong egg aroma to it, which I feel this one had more flour than egg ratio. Let's move on to the soft serve... it's gotta be one of the WORSE I've ever had!! Yea, it did taste like matcha, but that's basically it! Pretty sad eh? The texture of the soft serve is so thick that it's just 35% heavy cream and sugar and matcha powder. If you have ever tried drinking heavy cream, that's exactly how it tastes when you eat this soft serve. Just like you are drinking cold, matcha flavoured heavy cream! Overall, it was DISAPPOINTING! I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND my friends going to try it or myself to go back to try something else, save yourselves the $7 - 8 to buy some good HK style waffles elsewhere! P.S - service was good, they were nice and seemed friendly.
