I'm giving this three stars because for the price, I just don't think this resort offers enough value.
The pros:
-Beautiful mountain views
-Fantastic spa treatments and spa amenities (but very expensive!)
-All of the staff is very nice and accommodating
-Hotel rooms are spacious and bathrooms are nicely renovated
-Lots of free water available everywhere
The cons:
-Sprouts food was disgusting and way over priced
-Hotel room smelled of stale cigarettes
-Not enough staff serving drinks by the pool
-The exterior of the property looks like military barracks
-The overall "feel" of this resort is unfortunately outdated and lacking in luxury
At the Sprouts restaurant, we ordered a chef salad and seared ahi tuna. I am not even joking when I say they were both super gross. The chef salad looked like a McDonalds side salad with a few pathetic pieces of grilled chicken on it and the seared ahi tuna was straight up nasty. They literally took a hunk of tuna and overcooked the outside and stuck it on a plate. No dip, no garnish and it tasted very fishy, as if it was poor quality or had been sitting around. The pathetic little meal came to $35 and left me feeling completely ripped off after what had been such a relaxing massage in the spa. We then headed out to the spa pool, which was functioning as the resort's only pool, due to the fact that the main pool is being renovated. Fair enough. However, there were not an adequate number of servers for the large volume of people out by the small pool and the ambiance was bizarre. They had some faint violin music playing in the background and it was oddly silent out there with everyone facing one another. You almost felt like if you spoke out loud everyone around you would hear you. I think some basic music that appeals to a wide variety of ages would have gone a long way in creating a more laid back vibe there. Due to our disgusting meal at Sprouts, we headed off property for dinner that night to Blanco and had much better food at a lower or comparable price point.
