| - I love brunch. As far as I'm concerned, if you're a brunch place, you're already starting ahead. But I love weird brunch and my husband is more of a meat and potatoes kind of guy. Enter Square Cafe, which has become our go to brunch place because I can get a tofu scramble and he can get all the meat and potatoes that his fat heart desires!
Square Cafe, as some have noted, is in a fairly small space, and gets crowded on weekends. That being said, in the 10 or so times I've been here, I've never had to wait more than 30 minutes for a table. Their specialty lattes and milkshakes are not to be missed. I've dinged them one star for the food, which is typically quite good, but I've had a couple "misses" from their menu (as excited as I get for gluten free pancakes, these are not the best, fairly dry and leathery). There are plenty of VERY good menu items, and they do rotate seasonally. Right now, I'm all about the Cold Weather Crepes, which are full of Gruyere and butternut squash, or the brussel sprout hash, served over some gooey-amazing cheese grits.
Finally, as busy as they get, I've never had anything other than good service here, and typically it's excellent. Every so often, the coffee bar gets backed up and you might get your food before that delicious fancy latte that you ordered. That's not a big deal to me at all. If Maddie is your waitress, you'll be in great hands!
