We decided to try this out because I get tired thinking about recipes and hate grocery shopping even more, this seemed like a good way to pad out some of the meals we eat at home during the week. At 11$ per portion it's not super cheap but there's no wastage and you save grocery time, so how you value that is up to you.
Got my first box today at around 1 pm. The box itself is a regular cardboard box lined with cardboard spacers and foil.
Each recipe comes in its own bag. The meats arrive in the bottom of the box next to ice gel packs. I feel like there's some opportunity for reuse here but you're just supposed to recycle the box and gel packs.
We tried the potato, chicken, and peach mojito salad today. The ingredients were pretty good quality, the mint was fresh, the pepper was fresh, chicken was fine also. I had an extra potato lying around so I threw that in there. Portion size is adequate for two people -- full but no leftovers. The instructions are printed full colour on cardstock and each ingredient bag is labeled. Meat is vacuum packed. Although the labels and instruction card are nice touches I kind of wish the money went into the food or lowering the price.
The meal itself was pretty decent as well as we had fun cooking it. As you can see there are promo and referral codes all over the internet so there's no reason not to try it out.
