If I could give this hospital negative stars I would!!!
My boyfriend was flown in on the flight for life after being stung by a scorpion in the middle of the night. We did not know it at the time, but he is hyper allergic to the scorpion's venom and reacted violently and quickly to the bite.
His blood pressure was extremely high (204/190), he was having a hard time breathing, and his nerves were horribly affected by the venom. None of the staff seemed to know what was wrong with him and seemed unconcerned about getting his blood pressure down or establishing any level of comfort for him. He was stuck in triage and checked on maybe, every 3 hours, IF I started bugging the staff. One nurse asked me if he "drank every day" as if that were the reason for his symptoms. The doctor said "he was baffled" and didn't know what was wrong with him. RIDICULOUS! My guy rarely takes anything stronger than Advil, and was ill equipped to handle all of the pain (morphine) meds they gave him in the IV.
After they got him somewhat settled, I left to go home and when I returned (about an hour later) they sent me to his "room" - they actually sent me to a pre-op waiting room... So I am thinking he was in surgery -freaking out...
I go back to the ER and he is still in his triage bed (9 hours total at this time)
It took approximately 2 days for him to sleep off all of the medication they initially gave him, they gave no anti-venom or anything to treat the bite/venom, just a bed to "sleep it off".
They would have kept him more days had I not started nagging them to release him. More time means more money for them!
Two days ago, he received a flyer in the mail for drug addiction help and rehab facilities. Its like they are reporting him as a drug abuser and selling his information to telemarketers or something... Horrible experience!
