Nello's food is great. This is about the lousy service. I don't blame the waiter. I blame management for not having more than one waiter to serve 15 people.
I was with a group for a birthday celebration. We were to have the private room at 6:30. So we arrive at 6:25. Room not ready. The guy who greeted us said it hadn't been set up yet. *sigh* So a group of us is standing outside waiting for it to be set up. Ummmm...nada happens. So we just go in, choose the middle table and we all sit down. Room was warm because they hadn't set it up beforehand.
We ordered something to drink. Some people ordered soda, some alcohol...I just wanted water. While I waited for my water, after 10 minutes, I finally went out to my car to get my bottle of water. Ridiculous! Took forEVER to get glass of iced water. We also suggested he just get pitchers of water and we'd serve ourselves. That took at bit to get done.
Then appetizers were ordered, but it was like pulling teeth to get our waiter to do take the order. He was gone so much. smh
FINALLY he got around to taking our main order.
Appetizers arrive...fine. Then after an crazy amount of time the main order arrived. My husband ordered a 10" pizza and got a 12" and got charged for it. Why argue at this point cuz we're just so tired and ticked off. It was 7:30 before we got our main food. We think this is too long to ask us to wait. People out in the main dining area got their food way before we did. We were watching people order out there and get food while we continued to wait and wait.
Now, this is my first time at Nellos with a large group. When I've gone with just my husband and a couple of people it's been fine. Possibly the 15 or so of us was too much for one waiter?
I'm very disappointed in the service at this location for a party group.
#1: The room should have been cooled down before our arrival and tables already set up with glasses and pitchers of water.
#2: More than one server should have been taking menu orders and drinks.
#3: The wait was ridiculous to get our main items. Our orders were no different then those in the main dining room.
#4: Check order with customer before putting it in. Repeat it back to the customer. Paying for what we didn't order puts one in a rather unpleasant mood.
If you reserve as a group, make it clear with whomever takes the reservations what your expectations are.
