I have been coming here for years and it one of my favorite parks to go to. It's an oasis in the heart of the city with downtown Phoenix just a few miles away. There's a large pond in the middle of the park that people can fish in. At the base of the pond there is a large amphitheater and it looks really nice when they have the water on and running through it. They also 2 half court basketball courts, sand volleyball courts, two playgrounds and restrooms. They also have 2 fenced dog parks, one for large dogs and another for the smaller pups.
A few years ago on the west side of the park they opened a community garden, I know they have several artwork that's on display facing Central Ave but honestly I've never gone to look around there so I'm not exactly sure what that whole side has.
There seems to always be drifters and homeless people hanging about but they keep to themselves and I've never had any of them ask me for money or even talk to me. The last couple times I was there they had park employees on golf karts driving around which made things feel more secure.
It's such a huge park the only thing I would love the city to do is to make this another Fit Park and add in outdoor exercise stations like some of the other parks have but even without that there are plenty of trails here for jogging.
