My wife and I planned to replace our heat pump and 25 yr old air handler (attic) this winter as we know an attic install is labor intensive and figured working in an attic at 70 degrees would get us a better overall install compared to guys working in a 105 degree attic.
Matt came to our home and asked what issues if any our current system had. We explained the end of our home opposite the air handler location was 5 degrees warmer than the other end. He went up in the attic to examine the duct work of our 1650 ft home. When he returned he told us our ductwork could be reconfigured and upsized to put more air to the warm end of the house.
Other companies wanted to add an additional return to our home and increase the size of our heat pump from 3 1/2 ton to 4. Matt was the only contractor out of 7 to do a load calculation on our home to determine the proper size of heat pump. Matt determined we should go with a 3 ton unit with an inverter technology compressor.
Only 5 of companies that came to our home gave us multiple estimates with different brands and seer options. 2 companies never even responded back with a bid. JMAC offered a fair price and guaranteed their work. Jake, Cody (b) and Alan responded to our home for the install. Top notch guys - professional and personable. Jake was on top of his game as I know the attic install was complicated and tight, but when it was finished I couldn't have been more satisfied. JMAC is a smaller company that believes in providing customer service and doesn't try to over sell you (their installers and service staff are not commission based) We are now ready for the Mesa summer! Update August 2017 - After receiving our June and July SRP bills, we have big smiles on our faces! We like it cool and keep the house at 75 degrees with the new unit. Our old 10 seer unit struggled to keep it at 78 degrees. Our June 2016 electric bill was $365 and June 2017 was $224. July 2016 was $429 and July 2017 was $248. This electric bill also includes the operation of our 20 yr old pool pump (non energy efficient). The savings in our electric costs should pay for our new system in about 6 yrs. We are extremely happy with our new AC unit.
