| - After driving 12 hrs from California, we arrived and was greeted by friendly front desk staff who gave us a choice of a upper or lower level room. I asked what room is better? The desk clerk stated that the hotel had no elevators and downstairs would probably be better for us senior citizens. We took his advice and picked the ground floor unit. Upon entering the room, the first thing I noticed was one of the two queen size beds had a large indention like someone had laid in that bed before me. I checked the bathroom and the tub was filthy with hair in the tub and body grease and grime that had not been cleaned for some time. I turned on the television and the remote did not work. The TV went fuzzy and lost the picture totally. I attempted to connect to free WIFI and it would not connect. I called the front desk and the phone connection was so bad, duh, because it was also connected to the WIFI. On top of all this, the guest above us were out on the balcony fighting and MF'ing each other. The desk clerk that checked us in was heading up to their room to quell the fighting. I again attempted to call the front desk and there was no response or no one answering the phone. I walked up to the front desk to voice my complaints and was asked to wait for the desk clerk to return. When the desk clerk came back, I told him all that was wrong with this unit (room 125) and asked to be moved to another hotel room. I was told by Jimmy that the hotel was all sold out for the night and there is no available rooms until tomorrow. I then asked what about the upstairs unit and he said that had been rented out ( all within 25 mins after we checked in). I informed the clerk the room and conditions are UNACCEPTABLE. The clerk said I am sorry, but I can't give you another room because there is no housekeeping on duty to clean up the (DIRTY) room he rented to us. He suggested he would leave a note for day shift to move us or would we like to check out and cancel our reservation. I told the clerk I don't have another room reserved to check into so I would stay until tomorrow and expect to be moved and compensated for the problems, some that he knew of before I told him. After walking back to this room, I thought what do I have to lose...leave and find another room anywhere else and not risk getting sick or catching something I did not bring with me. Thankfully I found another hotel in the same area, much cleaner and over $300.00 cheaper. I came back and told the desk clerk Jimmy I would be checking out. Jimmy told me, after you left I called the hotel manager and explained the problems and she said she would discount your room to $125.00 per night and move you tomorrow. I told Jimmy I wouldn't stay if it was free, because you didn't do the right thing by me. Jimmy was apologetic, a little to late if you ask me. I hope who ever reads this review will be cautious and if you are brave enough to stay in this hotel, do yourself a favor and look at the entire room first, make sure all the things that are necessary to you are in working order and clean so that your stay will not be a regret at 9:50 pm when you are out looking for another room that is clean, safe, secure enough for seniors ( over 66 yrs old). I would never stay in the Magnuson Hotel Papago Inn located at 7017 E McDowell Rd, Scottsdale,AZ...oh ya, the hotel credited my American Express card with a credit of $205.06 for one night. I called AMEX to report the incident and was told by AMEX that the hotel charged my credit card for over $800.00 and that the hotel should have credited the full amount of over $800.00 back to my credit card. I love AMEX, they stopped the total charge and saved me a lot of headache dealing with a hotel that attempted to cheat me!!! Ruthless, no heart when a company will rob a senior citizen!!! NOT ON MY WATCH!!! GO GIANTS or go home. Love me some SF GIANTS
