My last visit here was on Christmas day 2016. There were three people working (from what I could see). The line was long and folks were all riled up to get their Chicago Mix (cheddar and caramel). I was probably in line for around 20 minutes. I was amazed that the ladies that I saw working were so friendly and patient. They were giving out samples as many people requested. They handled order changes and people asking a million questions with ease. They were pleasant and getting us out of their space (there isn't a door) as quickly as possible.
There was a young lady in the back that I watched whipping up fresh and hot batches of caramel corn. I thought that she must have been hot and tired, but when she came out to refill the bin, she didn't seem bothered at all. These ladies definitely deserve five stars for being so customer service perfect on Christmas while dealing with crazy tourists that think they need more popcorn and calories in their lives.
I have to admit that I feel guilty for visiting an establishment that makes their employees work on holidays, but I was also super grateful that Garrett's was open because I hadn't been back to Chicago for over a year and there is nothing better than this popcorn on the planet.
Don't forget to look for Yelp check-ins because I was able to get a free water to wash down the yummies.
