| - This store is not for poor people, or for people who are looking for cheap construction/cheap cost. This store is not for people who are mostly fine with matching furniture that is boring and inexpensive. This store is not for people who are expecting "close out" prices on "regular" furniture.
Now I'll tell you who this store IS for:
This store is a decorator's dream, and it is for people who have some discretionary money and who want to make their home beautiful in an affordable way. This store is for people who understand the difference between laminates and hard wood, and high end furniture, and who understand what it normally costs. It is also for people who understand the business model of this place, which is: The overstocks and old stock of high end furniture gets "dumped" here. If you have the money and the time, it is SO WORTH looking through to find what you need. The selection is incredible!
It is good to have a general idea of what pieces you need so that you can put a room together in one visit, because if you need two of something, they may only have one. The good news is that you will get a salesperson with a price/stock gun who will check IMMEDIATELY for you to let you know what is in stock. They will also tell you if the couch or chair you like is something they continuously stock, Ask them, because you may get lucky. They will ask if they can help you, and they WILL walk away and come back later so you don't feel hounded. They are human beings and know how to communicate if you actually communicate with them. They also let us know that a whole couch/chair/ottoman set can be broken up if we only needed one piece.
We had $5k to spend on one room. Our experience was wonderful all the way through to delivery. We understood clearly what the rules are from the get-go: All returns have a 20% restock fee. Fine. We measured our room ahead of time, and then we went home and measured again, *after* finding the pieces we wanted. We went back that same night to make the purchase. Some people don't understand that they are allowed to walk away before making a decision!
We got two couches, one cocktail table, two decorator (matching) end tables, two matching lamps and one work of art for the wall--all for under $5k and that included the furniture warranty to protect the cream linen couches we bought. It was worth it because we have kids. This was our sitting room furniture (the room with no tv--so hopefully kids will stay out of there, anyway). So, perhaps you will get my drift about this place--it isn't for the masses, unless the masses have taste and a willingness (and are able to afford it) to spend some real money for a nice home.
And for those who think they jack up prices to make you think you are getting a deal that isn't entirely true. The lamps we bought are normally over $300 each (I Googled them). The company that makes them makes the shades by hand and they also do gold and silver leaf press. We got the lamps at about $212 each. So...again--it is really about how much you are willing or able to spend on your home.
We had a smooth delivery process and nothing was damaged. The delivery guys were polite and nice to my dog (who barked incessantly at them) and I tipped them well for the 15 minutes of work. They were appreciative. I would definitely recommend this place. It isn't for most people, but it is definitely a great place for people who want a really nice home by spending, for example, $5k instead of $12k. Not everybody's market, we know, but perfect for people like us.
And the thing is, if you have money then you probably have excellent credit and if you have excellent credit they are going to give you the absolute best deals....Zero down, %15 off your whole purchase....4 years to pay. Sure, the loan/interest terms are CRAZY (29.9%), but then we NEVER pay that because we always pay our bills and get this kind of thing paid off COMPLETELY within the time frame, avoiding the interest costs. We have never paid any interest on furniture because of our payment habits. So, keep that in mind when you shop.
Go in with an open mind and don't make a purchase without know for certain that the item(s) will work.
