4.5 stars! By far the most awesome meal I had during my previously weekend visig in Las Vegas.
I have had secret infatuation with Bobby Flay on Food Network for a while now. Although he's a little bit older...his bad boy look and abilities to cook+entertain impressed me. Aside from his unofficial fling with Giada, I still wanted to give him a chance during my visit in Law Vegas...so my SO and I booked a spot to check Mesa Grill out while we were in town.
We opted for tiger prawns and tamale for an appetizer and chose the veal chops and cuffed rubbed filet mignon for dinner (added on a side of cilantro and pesto mashed potatoes). It didn't hurt that the waitress also have us a complementary basket of yummy bread, too (the corn/jalapenos muffin was devine!). The meats (veal and filet mignon) were cooked perfectly. They were both very tender. Although we tend to eat our steak medium rare..but because the waitress let us know that their chef tended to cook on a rarer side...we asked for medium for our meats instead...and just like what we expected..the meats came out perfect...still juicy and tender!
Overall, the dinner was very pleasant. We finished our meal with banana cream pie and it was a good choice for yam it wasn't too heavy and still enough to share between the two of us.
Overall, I would definitely want to return to this place again. It also does help that Bobby Flat hasn't remarried yet either :p from what I overheard from the waitress was that he comes visit his restaurants in Vegas about 6 times a year..so hopefully next time we will be able to get a glimpse of him!
-0.5 stars for just plain ok sides and desserts. Their appetizers and main courses were great and had a variety of selection. For the side dishes to complement the entrees...as well as the desserts though...the choices seemed too plain to me...but then again..Bobby isn't exactly known as a dessert guy either! Highly recommended!
