| - We stumbled upon the Barbie Expo at Cours Mont-Royal, trying to get out of the freezing rain. Located on the second floor, this is billed as the largest permanent collection of Barbies on exhibit in the world. While I recognized some of the Barbies from dedicated Barbie stores and collector websites, the display left me in awe of the detail and effort put into these dolls. Here, you can see:
Barbies dressed by famous designers like Givenchy, Monique Lhuillier, Vera Wang, Byron Lars, Bob Mackie, and Nolan Miller
Barbies in iconic outfits by Chanel, Badgley Mischka, Burberry, Kate Spade, Gap (twice), Juicy Couture
Barbies representing characters from pop culture: Wizard of Oz, X-Files, Twilight, Hunger Games, Divergent, Legally Blonde
Barbies representing famous people such as Cher, Prince William and Kate Middleton (on their wedding day), Grace Kelly, Marilyn Monroe, Faith Hill and Tim McGraw
Barbies in recognizable outfits of their representative countries: Canada, US, Ireland, France, China, Japan
With over 1,000 dolls to view, comment on, or photograph, be sure to leave enough time. Also, note that there is a "fashion show" and Barbie photo booth that resembles a Barbie box, in the event there is a little one who has always wanted to be a Barbie or Ken doll.
